Welcome back to School

August 11, 2025

Dear Parents and Students of Irrigon Elementary School,

I hope you’re enjoying a wonderful summer. As we approach the beginning of the 2025-2026 school year, I am thrilled to extend a warm welcome to each of you. It is an honor and a privilege to serve as the principal of Irrigon Elementary School, and I am eagerly looking forward to meeting our families of IES and working together.

We are looking forward to the new year with tons of learning happening at IES!

As we begin this school year, I am excited to announce new staff that will be in our building. Mr. Parker Rosenblum will be our new PE teacher. Mr. Elijah Azurin will be our shared Music teacher with Windy River Elementary. Ms. Chrissy Langdon is our new school counselor. Ms. Brenda Burright is coming to us from AC Houghton to be on our 4th grade team. And our new ELD teacher is Mrs. Morgan Wilson from Hermiston.

When does school start? It starts on Monday, August 25th!
School will begin at 8:00 a.m. and dismissal will be at 3:30 p.m. The school doors will be unlocked at 7:45 a.m. Please note that this will be strictly enforced again this year—students are not to be on campus before 7:45 a.m. as we do not have staff available for supervision until then. Students will be on the playground or at breakfast in the cafeteria until they are dismissed to their classrooms. Students will be considered tardy at 8:05 a.m.

Student Registration:
IES will hold student registration Monday, August 11th and Tuesday, August 12th, from 7:45 a.m. – 3:45 p.m. for families who are new to the area and Morrow County School District. Online registration for families already in the area and school district will also open on August 11th through the parent portal, which is located on Irrigon Elementary’s website or the Morrow County School District website. This link will be sent out to parent emails that are on file. This registration process can be completed from home or by coming to our school on the above dates. If you do not have your login information, please contact the school at 541-922-2421.

Open House: (Find out who your teacher is!)
Thursday, August 21st from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. We look forward to seeing our students and parents attend this event. There will be information regarding transportation, Advantage Dental, meet our new and returning staff, school spirit shirts and hoodies available to order, pay student body fee ($5).

Bus Routes: Mid-Columbia will be available at Open House on Thursday, August 21st from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. to answer questions about routes.

Meals:
Our school will be participating in the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) during the 2025-2026 school year. What that means is there will be NO CHARGE for enrolled IES students who receive a healthy breakfast and/or lunch from the school. Students who opt for “seconds” will incur a fee. Parents will not need to fill out or submit a free or reduced application for your child/children who attend IES.

School Pictures:
Information will be coming home at a later date.

Student Body Fee:
A $5.00 fee for each student is collected at Open House or the first day of school. This helps offset the cost for extra-curricular activities, including reward activities, field trips, and outdoor school. We want to reach out to all parents and thank you for supporting IES staff and your child with positive words of encouragement. We are excited to start the 2025-2026 school year adventure with our upcoming fourth graders, our returning students, and new students who have recently moved to our community. We are excited to greet IES students on the first day of school, Monday, August 25th!

Sincerely,
Mrs. Karen Frenette
Principal
